Title:
FOLDABLE THREE-DIMENSIONAL STRUCTURE COMPOSED OF SIX PENTAGONAL STARS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3114086
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a three-dimensional structure foldable in a planar manner, by interwining six pentagonal stars with one another in accordance with symmetry properties of a regular dodecahedron and a regular icosahedron.
SOLUTION: Thirty band-shaped members 3 in the form of elastic congruent trapezoid are prepared. Six pentagonal stars 1a formed by the band-shaped members are interwined with one another in accordance with symmetry properties of a regular dodecahedron and a regular icosahedron so that any two pentagonal stars 1a become congruent. All apices 2 of the pentagonal stars 1a are bonded to enable folding the pentagonal stars in a planar manner and restoring them to a three-dimensional structure.
