Title:
FOLDING BALLOON FOR ANGIOPLASTY CAPABLE OF CONSTRICTING
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2599872
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a balloon for angioplasty which unfailingly constricts into a compact shape having a smallest transverse plane by forming longitudinal sections parallel with the axis of a main body and affixing both ends of the main body to tapered parts.
CONSTITUTION: Two hollow parts 24 and 26, which are connected with a hollow body 22 of a balloon 10 by fluid linkage, is tapered inwards. The body 22 has folding sections 42a-42c and three reinforcing sections 44a-44c, which are curved towards three radial directions. The folding sections 42a-42c and the reinforcing sections 44a-44c are arranged alternately. When the balloon 10 constricts, relatively stiff and curved guide sections 48a-48c of the ends 24 and 26 guide the folding sections 42a-42c of the body 22 to a compact transverse plane across the radial direction of the smallest cross section. As a result, a balloon that unfailingly constricts into a shape having the smallest transverse plane, is resistant against leakage and tear when inflating, is easy-to-use, and is manufactured at low cost is obtained.
