PURPOSE: A fomentation ointment that is made by adding active ingredients, magnetisum sodium silicate and a specific copolymer emulsion to an aqueous solution of polyvinyl pyrrolidone crosslinked with a specific copolymer, thus improving the migration of pigments in herb medicines.
CONSTITUTION: (A) The base material containing an aqueous solution of polyvinyl pyrrolidone crosslinked with a copolymer from methyl vinyl ether and maleic anhydride is combined with (B) active ingredients such as menthol, (C) magnesium sodium cilicate and (D) an emulsion of acrylic ester copolymer to produce a fomentation ointment used to treate bruise or the like, preventing the migration of pigments in herb medicines into the supporting cloth and the sagging of the ointment and showing good adhesion to skins. The amounts of the components based on the total ointment are 5W12wt% polyvinyl pyrrolidone, 5W 12wt% the copolymer, 5W15wt% purified water in component A, 6W12w% component B, 0.5W3wt% component C and 2W30wt% component D.
