To provide a food baking method and an apparatus for the baking method enabling sure application of a release oil having a prescribed shape to a target place on a top plate without scattering the oil and easy release of the baked food from the top plate.

The baking apparatus is provided with an inkjet printer-type release oil application device 3 to continuously spray the particulate release oil Q to the top plate 1 before placing a food dough W in a form corresponding to the form of the product. The device is placed along a transfer line of a transfer conveyor 2 for conveying the top plate 1 holding the food dough W divided into sections having prescribed size and shape. An oven 20 to continuously or intermittently bake the food dough W placed on the top plate 1, a product separation means 21 (depanning process) to separate the product from the top plate 1 after baking, a cooling means 21 for the product, and a cleaning device 26 for the top plate 1 are successively arranged at a downstream side of the release oil application device 3. The top plate 1 cleaned by the top plate cleaning device 26 is returned to the transfer conveyor 2 at the upstream side of the release oil application device 3.
