To make uniform the velocity and quantity of cooling air passing through food shelves and also to enhance the rate of heat exchange with a cooler.
A cooler 3 and a fan 4 are provided in juxtaposition inside a space surrounded by a heat-insulating box body 2 having a door 1 in the front, and food shelves 6 are disposed in many stages in front of them, so that cooling air sent forward from the fan 4 flows through the food shelves 6, turns back in the shape of a letter U, passes through the cooler 3 and is sucked in from the back of the fan 4, while a distribution duct 8 distributing the cooling air equally to each food shelf 6 is provided in front of the fan 4. Since the flows of the cooling air coming in and out from the food shelves 6 do not interfere with each other and run smoothly through the food shelves 6 at a uniform velocity, freezing of high efficiency and high quality can be executed.
