PURPOSE: To thaw a frozen food easily and uniformly by arranging a thawing container removably in a thawing chamber formed in a special selection chamber and controlling a heater and a chill supply means of the thawing chamber based on the temperature in the thawing container.

CONSTITUTION: When a frozen food is thawed, the door 110 of a refrigeration chamber 200 is opened at first and a thawing container is drawn out from a thawing chamber 300 arranged in a special selection chamber 400 and a frozen food is contained therein. Based on a detection signal from a thawing temperature sensor 320, a control means conducts a heater 310 arranged above the thawing chamber 300 and drives a compressor 78 simultaneously. Subsequently, air is cooled by an evaporator 76 and supplied to a chill passage 86 by means of a fan 84. Convection takes place in the thawing chamber 300 due to chill flowing in through a chill hole 98a and heating by means of the heater 310. Consequently, frozen food in the thawing chamber 300 is thawed uniformly and overheating of the heater 310 is prevented by the chill.
