PURPOSE: To detect a force feed condition such as force feed start timing of fuel with accuracy of equal degree to direct detection by providing a pressure sensor for detecting a pressure in a high pressure chamber of a timer and detecting the force feed condition of fuel based on an output signal of the pressure sensor.

CONSTITUTION: A timer 13, provided in a lower end part of a housing l, has a timer piston 13c which is pressed to a side of a low pressure chamber 13b by fuel introduced to a high pressure chamber 13a through a communication hole 13d from a pump chamber and, on the other hand, urged to a side of the high pressure chamber 13a by a timer spring 13e arranged in the low pressure chamber 13b, and fuel injection timing is adjusted by rotating a roller holder through a rod 14 by displacement of this timer piston 13c. Here, a pressure sensor 16 is provided in a shield plate 15 for shielding the high pressure chamber 13a, and an output of the pressure sensor 16 is input to a microcomputer 19 through an amplifier 17 and an A/D converter 18 here to obtain a, force feed condition of force feed start timing, force feed end timing and a force feed period or the like based on the detected pressure.
