To prevent the occurrence of a phenomenon of being unable to successively extract a fork from a cargo by a rebound of a loading space just after transferring the cargo to the loading space of a truck, easily caused by the truck having particularly an air suspension mechanism.
This fork loader 8 has a fork lifting mechanism 16 for vertically moving the fork 15 by winding or rewinding a wire 19. A tension maintaining mechanism 25 maintaining tension of the wire 19 so that looseness is not caused in the wire 19, is added to this fork lifting mechanism 16. After transferring the cargo CB lifted by the fork 15 to the loading space 10a of the truck 10, a height position of the fork 15 is adjusted before starting operation for extracting the fork 15 from the cargo CB. This adjustment is made by adjusting the height position of the fork 5 to a height position noninterfering with a fork insertion part 6c of the cargo CB by lifting the fork 15 after transferring the cargo CB to the loading space 10a of the truck 10.
