Abstract:

To provide a device and a system for utilizing old-generation products and technology in a new-generation system.

A converter assembly (100) comprises a backplane interface (102) to a backplane compliant with a first open architecture modular computing system standard, a constituent component interface (104) which can be coupled with components compliant with a second open architecture modular computing system standard and a control element (110) coupled between the backplane interface and the component interface. The control element (110) is capable of programmably routing connection lines and signals between the component interface and the backplane interface.
