Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a formamidine compound being normally liquid and lowly viscous and having good compatibility with synthetic polymers.
SOLUTION: There is provided a formamidine compound represented by formula I, being normally liquid and lowly viscous and having good compatibility with synthetic polymers. This compound exhibits ultraviolet absorptivity, is added to the substance to be stabilized in an amount of 0.05-10 wt.% and is used, if necessary, in combination with another ultraviolet absorber, an antioxidant, a light stabilizer or the like. It is obtained by reacting a 4-aminobenzoate represented by formula II with a trialkyl orthoformate at 70-200°C to form a carboalkoxy formimidate represented by formula III and reacting this compound with an N-substituted aniline at 70-270°C. In the formulae, R1 is a 7-18C linear or branched alkyl; R2 is a 1-20C linear or branched alkyl; and R3 and R4 are each H, a 1-20C linear or branched alkoxyl or a halogen.
