PURPOSE: To form a low temperature store house without injuring an existing underground structure.
CONSTITUTION: In the surrounding of an existing rectangular parallelepiped underground structure 1, heat pipes 3 and 4 running from both side walls 8 and 9 and along a bottom wall 10 of the structure 1 and heat pipes 5 and 6 running along a ceiling wall 11 of the structure 1 are embedded. Spaced from the heat pipes 3 and 4 embedded along both the side walls 8 and 9 of the existing underground structure 1, thaw preventing walls 12 and 13 are embedded around the structure 1 in the vertical direction, whereby earth within the thaw preventing walls 12 and 13 becomes frozen ground 7. Thus, by turning the earth surrounding the existing underground structure 1 into the frozen earth, which is used as a low temperature store house, installation of a refrigerator and the like becomes unnecessary. Further, by using a space in the existing underground structure as it is, the structure can be very easily reformed into the low temperature store house. Accordingly, initial cost and running cost for the refrigerator and the like can be saved.
