Title:
FORMATION OF OPEN CELL TYPE FOAM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS62212109
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce the cost by a method wherein a sheet-shaped open cell type foam is impregnated with thermosetting resin and, after that, hot-pressed with a mold conforming to the shape of a product in order to obtain a foam with a predetermined shape.

CONSTITUTION: A sheet 1 of sheet-shaped open cell type foam is pulled out of a roll 2 and introduced in a liquid tank 3. The sheet is impregnated with resin liquid 4 by being compressed in the direction of the thickness by a plurality of pairs of press rolls 5 and 5 in the tank. The sheet 1 is squeezed by squeeze rolls 6 and 6 installed at the position where the sheet leaves the tank 3, so as to make the amount of resin impregnated equal to the predetermined value. After that, the sheet is dried at a drying device 7 and cut in lengths by a cutting device 8. The cut sheet 1 is hot-pressed by a hot pressing device 9 by employing a mold conforming to the shape of a product in order to form into a predetermined shape. Because a sheet-shaped thermosetting foam is hot- pressed, no high pressure is applied to a pressure mold. Consequently, the mold can be made at low cost.
