PURPOSE: To improve a work environment and to improve productivity with the suppresion of the splash of cutting liquid, chips, etc., by providing a shade member which covers the upper part of a work place, and forming a curtain which encircles the work place by the flowing down liquid from the shade member.
CONSTITUTION: A cutting liquid flows down from an annular nozzle 9, when it is fed to a shade member 8 via a feeding pipe 13 from a cutting liquid feeding pump and a liquid curtain 14 encircling a jig 3 and a workpiece 4 is formed. In order to adjust the flowing down speed of the cutting liquid the open area of the nozzle 9 is to be changed by replacing a collar 11 with that of a different length and the flowing down speed can be increased by making the area smaller, and a stronger and surer liquid curtain can be formed. At the cutting time a tool 6 is moved to the workpiece 4 side by penetrating the liquid curtain 14, the cutting liquid is injected to the workpiece 4 simultaneously and the necessary cutting is performed. The cutting liquid splashed from the workpiece 4 and chips are prevented by the curtain 14 from splash to the external part.
