Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a foamed product of a high strength, low specific gravity, excellent hot water resistance and reduced thermal shrinkage by formulating an alkali metal silicate, an aluminum powder of less than a prescribed particle size and water to a reactive inorganic powder comprising an inorganic powder and an alumina-based powder.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 100 pts.wt. of a reactive inorganic powder comprising 50-97 pts.wt. of an inorganic powder and 3-50 pts.wt. of an alumina-based powder is blended with (B) 0.2-450 pts.wt. of an alkali metal silicate salt, (C) 0.01-2 pts.wt. of an aluminum powder of less than 200μm particle size, and (D) 35-1,500 pts.wt. of water. The inorganic powder is a fly ash containing more than 80wt.% of powder particles of less than 10μm particle size or a powder resulting from application of mechanical energy of 0.1-30kwh/kg to the powder. The alumina- based powder is at least one selected from among alumina cement, γ-alumina or a powder obtained by fusing alumina and spraying it in the air, an alkali metal aluminate or aluminum hydroxide.
