Title:
FORMING IRON NITROSYL HEMOGLOBIN
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2010120971
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To produce a preparation for improving prevalence, which is alternative, stable and bioactive.

Contrary to the current opinion that a nitrite, in general, oxidizes hemoglobin with elimination of active nitric oxide, deoxygenated hemoglobin reacts with a low concentration inorganic nitrite to produce highly stable iron nitrosyl hemoglobin which, on delivery into the body, is converted to hemoglobin which can deliver nitric oxide, providing vasodilator and antiplatelet activity. This provides basis for ameliorated risk of blood product transfusions. The invention provides a method for producing the stable iron nitrosyl hemoglobin convertible to S-nitrosyl hemoglobin in the body. A process of obtaining the iron nitrosyl hemoglobin by reacting deoxygenated hemoglobin with inorganic nitrite in the molar ratio in the range of 1:10-1:1,000 of nitrite to the deoxygenated hemoglobin, is included.
