PURPOSE: To work to a shape whose both end parts are parallel and which has a stepped part on the way, by heating a small diameter, short and high tensile strength metallic material, and thereafter, inserting and holding it by a fixed chuck and a moving chuck, pressing it by bending tools of both sides of the chuck, and bending it.

CONSTITUTION: A small diameter, short and high tensile strength metallic material which cannot be bend-worked easily at a normal temperature is heated to a temperature which is suitable for plastic working of its metallic material. This heated metallic material 1 is placed exactly on a fixed chuck 34, a moving chuck 35 is shifted and the material is fixed by both chucks 34, 35. Subsequently, both ends 1', 1" of the material 1 are pressed and bend-worked by two bending tools 37, 37' having a lance-like tip part 36 consisting of a sintered hard material. After working, the moving chuck 35 and both bending tools 37, 37' are drawn back simultaneously. In this way, a work whose both end parts 1', 1" parallel and which has a stepped part in the middle of them can be formed easily.
