Title:
FORMING METHOD FOR DOUBLE SEAMING PART
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5881528
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent generation of buckling even when a can body is made of material of low rigidity by double seaming a bead part provided near the open end of a can body supporting the part with a support guide fixed to a lifter.

CONSTITUTION: The curled part 4b of the end member 4 of a can body 1 is placed on the flange part 2, and the can body is sent in a lifter 5 and fixed with a support guide 7. Under this condition, a seaming chuck 12 is brought into contact with an end member 4 and rotated synchronizing with the lifter 5. At the same time, the first seaming roll 13 is moved in radial direction while raising the lifter 5 to form a provisional seaming part 14. Since the can body is supported by the support guide 7, buckling does not take place. Next, a double seaming part 16 is formed by compressing the provisional seaming part 14 in radial direction by the second seaming roll 15. Double seaming of the flange part 2' and end member is performed in the same way.
