Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple technique for forming a shaped material.
SOLUTION: A solid homogeneous or porous shaped material is formed of a reinforced powder suitably selected from a powder of the metallic group of a metal, a metallic compound, a cemented carbide, a cermet and a ceramic. A slurry containing a proteinic substance, soluble in water at atmospheric temperature and forming an irreversible gel by heating at a temperature without exceeding 90°C is prepared from a slurry of the powder in an aqueous solution of the proteinic substance at this time to provide the amount of the proteinic substance sufficient for forming a gel. The slurry is then kept in a desired form with a mold to carry out the tape casting or drop forming. The resultant formed compact is heated at a temperature at least corresponding to the gelation temperature of the protein.
