PURPOSE: To obtain the forward-or-reverse-direction-of-rotation detection apparatus, of a fan motor, by which the actual direction of the rotation of the motor is precisely detected.

CONSTITUTION: A spiral groove 1a is formed on a fan-motor shaft 1, and a guide part 3 is inserted into, and passed through, a movement shaft 4, installed at a U-shaped detection-apparatus pedestal 2, so as to be movable via a hole 3b. A guide pin 3a is installed at the guide part 3, it is coupled to the spiral groove 1a on the fan-motor shaft 1, it is moved due to the rotation of the shaft 1, and also the guide part 3 is moved. When the fan-motor shaft 1 is turned in either the forward direction or the reverse direction, the guide part 3 is moved in either direction on the movement shaft 4, it comes into contact with either a switch 5 or a switch 6, the switch is turned on, and the forward direction of rotation or the reverse direction of rotation of the fan-motor shaft 1 can be detected precisely.
