Title:
FOUR WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE EQUIPPED WITH MANUAL CLUTCH
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5833527
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable to fit the manual clutch to an independent suspension shaft by a slight remodeling of the shaft by a method wherein the manual clutch is installed between a drive shaft and an axle shaft and manually operated from a driver's seat.

CONSTITUTION: When a shift lever 3 equipped at the driver's seat is changed- over from two wheel drive (abbreviated as 2WD later on) into four wheel drive (abbreviated as 4WD later on) and a wire 50 is pulled by manual operation, a shifter 20 is rotated so as to shift a slide gear 15 axially in order to engage with a driven gear 25, resulting in obtaning 4WD. On the other hand, in order to change over from 4WD into 2WD, after the sift lever 3 is changed-over into 2WD, the OFF operation is performed through the operating wire 50 and consequently the shifter 20 is rotated in reverse direction to the direction produced at the ON operation by means of the elastic force of a twisting coil spring 24 in order to shift the slide gear 16 leftward in the axis direction so as to release the engagement between the slide gear 19 and the driven gear 25, resulting in obtaining 2WD.
