NEW MATERIAL:FR-3086 Substance having the following characteristics: (1) elemental analysis, C 36.15, H 5.68, N, 15.48, O 42.74; (2) molecular weight, 246; (3) melting point, 128°C; (4) specific rotatory power, [α]D25=+85.5° (c=1.0, methanol); (5) peak in UV spectrum, 228mμ (methanol); (6) solubility, easily soluble in methanol, water and acetone, insoluble in ethyl acetate, chloroform, and benzene; (7) white crystals; (8) color reactions, positive to orcinol reaction, ferric chloride-potassium ferricyanide reaction, etc., negative to Dragendorff's reaction, etc.
USE: Preventive and remedy for bacterially caused diseases.
PROCESS: The antibiotic substance can be separated from a culturing product obtained by culturing FR-3086 substance-producing bacteria belonging to Streptomyces genus in a medium.
