PURPOSE: To reduce the product loss in the frame replacing work by introducing the top edge of a web after cutting onto a new core and attaching a suction roll onto which a one-side adhesive tape is attraction-held, keeping the adhesive surface outside, onto a new core, and taking up the web by fixing the top edge of the web onto the new core by the adhesive tape.
CONSTITUTION: A one-side adhesive tape 11 is adsorption-held in the axial direction onto a suction roll 10 by a tape feeding unit 9, keeping the adhesive surface upwardly. When the taking-up of a web 1 on an old core 6 is completed, the taking-up on the old core 6 is suspended, and the web 1 is pressed by a pressing roller 12 and cut by a cutter 13, and the suction roller 10 contact- presses a new core 8. Then, the web 1 is advanced reversely, and the adhesive tape 11 on the suction roll is attached onto the cut surface of the web, ranging over the new core, and the web 1 is adhesion-fixed onto the new core, and taking-up is permitted. Since automatic joining of the web is carried out in the stop state, product loss can be reduced, and the speedy frame replacing operation is permitted.
