To extremely easily and inexpensively reclaim recyclable rubber and nonrubber materials from waste tires by freezing the waste tires with a cryogenic liquefied gas to eliminate the elasticity of rubber and then grinding them, thereby quickly and easily separating nonrubber parts from rubber parts in the waste tires.
This freeze-grinding method comprises a freezing process for freezing waste tires 1 by using a coolant such as a cryogenic liquefied gas, a grinding and separating process for grinding the frozen waste tires 1 and at the same time, separating nonrubber parts such as carcasses 6, belts 7, and bead wires 9 from rubber parts 5, a sorting process for sorting the ground waste tires 1 into the rubber parts and the nonrubber parts such as the carcasses 6, the belts 7, and the bead wires 9, and a pulverizing process for finely pulverizing the sorted rubber parts 5 of the waste tires 1 to a prescribed particle size.
