PURPOSE: To minimize the complication of management of foods in a refrigerator and utilize the foods in the refrigerator effectively by a method wherein a data input and output device of the names of foods, dates, quantities and the like is provided on a door for the freezing refrigerator to control the data automatically by a timer and a computer accommodated in the data input and output device.
CONSTITUTION: Foods data, inputted by a bar-code reader, a magnetic card reader and a TEN key in an input and output unit 21, are sent into a food control unit to store them into a memory together with the date and quantity of storing into the refrigerator. The condition of the freshness of the foods is controlled in the food control unit and is indicated on a display on an indicating unit simultaneously with an alarming light or alarming sounds if necessary. According to this method, the input and output of the data of foods can be effected simply and the freshness of the foods are controlled automatically whereby the management of foods in the refrigerator is facilitated and the waste of foods or excessive purchase of the foods is eliminated.
