To provide a freight car with a vertical lift device wherein the support strength of a rear bumper is high.
The freight car 10 with a vertical lift device includes a vertical lift device 16 having an elevation rear deck 14 constituting a part of the rear end side of the deck of a loading platform 12 and vertically elevatable, a chassis frame 22 having a pair of main frames 20 extending along the back-and-forth direction of a vehicle to the front side from the hostway 18 of the elevation rear deck 14, and a movable rear bumper device 32 having a pair of rear bumper connection mechanism 30 for connecting a rear bumper member 24 to the rear end part of a pair of main frames 20 so that the rear bumper member 24 may be movable between a normal position 26 in the hoistway 18 of the elevation rear deck 14 and a retreating position 28 of retreating to the front side of the hoistway 18.
