When a train (a) comes near a pick-up on ground a1 in the condition where a signal S shows R aspect, an ATS receiver 1 receives a signal with a frequency f1 from the pick-up on ground a1. From the timing of receiving the signal, the distance from a pick-up on ground a4 to the pick-up on ground a1, that is, 4 m is detected to know that a track has a down-grade 5%. The pick-up on ground is formed by a pair of pick-ups on ground provided at a designated space corresponding to the down-grade in the traveling direction of the train. Further, there is provided a train control means for conducting designated train control according to designated signals sent from the pair of pick-ups on ground and installation information between the pick-ups on ground, thereby generating a checking pattern according to a stop target marker.
