Abstract:
To provide a friction applying device with a sliding member to be put at its all contact surface in non-offset uniform contact with a member for giving less wear to the sliding member and the member and maintaining proper frictional force and accuracy for a long period.
The friction applying device for thrusting the sliding member 16 moving along the guide rail 3 against a guide rail 3 to cause friction comprises the sliding member 16 formed of a hard porous carbon material having an elastic modulus of 5000 MPa or less and a Vickers hardness of 400 or more.
