A friction clutch device comprises a friction clutch 15 having torque transmitting members 3 and 13, a clutch member 71 connected to the member 3 and a clutch member 75 connected to the member 13, an armature 17 movable to a fastening position for pressing the clutch 15 and to a fastening release position in which a fastening is released and an electromagnet 19 for attracting the armature 17 to the fastening position to fasten the clutch 15. An engaging tooth 73 of the clutch member 71 has a no-tooth part 79. An elastic member 21 for pressing and returning the armature 17 to the fastening release position when the magnetization of the electromagnet 19 is stopped is disposed in the no-tooth part 79.
