To generate a proper damping force on vibration with micro-amplitude, in a hydraulic buffer.
A piston 5 to which a piston rod 7 is coupled is slidably fitted in a cylinder 2 filled with oil liquid and the piston 5 is provided with damping force generating mechanisms 13 and 14 consisting of an orifice and a disc valve. A piston is provided with a friction force regulating mechanism 6 consisting of a frictional part 19, a cam plate 20, and a rotary actuator 23. The rotary actuator 23 is energized through a lead wire 29 by rotating the frictional part 19 along the cam plate 20, the frictional part is pressed against the inner peripheral surface of the cylinder 2, and a friction force is exerted on the stroke of the piston rod 7. Vibration with micro-amplitude with which a damping force by oil liquid is hard to be generated is damped by the friction force.
