In the friction driving belt B, at least the pulley contact part 13 of the belt body 10 is formed of an elastomer composition. In the pulley contact part 13 of the belt body 10, a multiplicity of cellular pits 15 composed by partially cutting away hollow particles 18 blended into the elastomer composition is formed on the pulley contact surface. A process for manufacturing the friction driving belt includes a step of hot molding an elastomer composition in which hollow particles 18 are blended, thereby forming a belt body preform, and a step of cutting the formed belt body preform, thereby partially cutting away the hollow particles 18 blended into the elastomer composition to form the pulley contact part 13 with a multiplicity of cellular pits 15 composed on the pulley contact surface.
