Abstract:
To provide a friction fastening device capable of securing increase in pressing force of a polymer actuator whose displacement is made large but pressing force is made small, reducing drive resistance, and attaining both weight saving and compactification.SOLUTION: A friction fastening device comprises a plurality of friction plates 101a, 101b provided between a drum 41 and a hub 42 and alternately engaging with the drum and the hub, and a piston 102 having a pressing unit 102a that presses the plurality of friction plates to fasten them together. Between the drum and the piston, a polymer actuator 103 is provided for imparting axial pressing force to the piston. A power transmission unit 113 is provided for transmitting power to the hub by a radial displacement caused by an axial displacement of the polymer actuator.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
