Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve frictional characteristics, heat resistance, flexibility. and friction feeling under a high load by compounding a specific binder resin, a filler, and a base fiber. CONSTITUTION:100 pts.wt. the sum of 3-80wt.% high-molecular alkyl-substd. novolac phenol resin having an average mol.wt. of 1500 or higher and obtd. by reacting at least one 1-12C alkylphenol selected from the group consisting of cresol, ethylphenol, butylphenol, nonylphenol, and xylenol with formaldehyde in the presence of an acid and 97-20wt.% thermosetting resin (e.g. an epoxy resin) is compounded with 0-30 pts.wt. flexibilizer (e.g. a nitrile ruber) and 0-25 pts.wt. curing agent (e.g. hexamethylenetetramine) to give a binder resin. 3-40wt.% the binder resin, 10-90wt.% filler (e.g. silica), and 10-90wt.% base fiber (e.g. a glass fiber) are compounded.
