Abstract:

To provide a friction material-manufacturing method which reduces time for forming and heating, controls melting and heat-curing in the forming time, improves productivity by a reduction in manufacturing-time, and improves function of the obtained friction material.

In the manufacturing method for the friction material, the raw-material surface of the friction material is coated with a thermosetting resin, pre-curing of the coating resin is effected, and the raw material is thermoformed. In coating the resin, a solution of the thermosetting resin is sprayed on the raw material in a coating device of a fluid-type, or fluid-rolling-type. The sprayed solution is dried, and the coating resin is pre-cured in the device at least at curing-starting temperature to at most curing-peak temperature of the resin. The thickness of the resin coating layer is set to 0.5-2 m. As the coating resin, a phenolic resin is preferably used.
