To produce a brake pad as a friction material by molding and heat-treating a raw material comprising a fiber component, a binder component and a filler component while inexpensively suppressing dust generation during the production process.
The brake pad is produced by molding and heat-treating the raw material comprising the fiber component selected from inorganic fiber, organic fiber and metallic fiber, the binder component such as a phenolic resin, the filler component such as graphite powder or alumina powder, and uncured rubber particles 40. In the above process, dust generation can be suppressed since fine powder 50 in the raw material adheres to the adhesive uncured rubber particles 40 in preparing the raw material by mixing the respective components together.
