Abstract:
To provide a friction material used as a brake pad and so forth with no need of the surface baking treatment (the scorch treatment).
The friction material which includes a two-layered structure comprising (A) layer and (B) layer and is obtained by the molding under heat and pressure of a friction material composition containing a friction adjustor, a binder resin, and according to demand, a fibrous base material, is characterized in that the (A) layer is the surface layer to keep contact with an opponent material and is formed by a molding under heat and pressure of a granulated material from a friction material composition having a content of the organic material excluding the binder resin, of 0-12 vol.%.
