Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction material used as a lining of a brake shoe equipped to a drum brake and capable of suppressing brake noise due to vibration of a drum by friction contact of the friction material to the drum.SOLUTION: There is provided a friction material 33 which is a lining for drum brake by integrating a first friction material layer contacting a drum and a second friction material layer 35 fixed to a shoe 31 of the drum brake, where the second friction material layer 35 contains an elastomer and a porous filler. There is provided the friction material 33, where the porous filler is vermiculite and the elastomer is preferably at least one kind of an acrylonitrile-butadiene copolymer rubber (NBR) and a styrene-butadiene copolymer rubber (SBR). There is provided the friction material 33 where preferably the content of the elastomer in the second friction material layer 35 is 0.5 to 20 mass% and the content of the porous filler is 0.5 to 20 mass%.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
