PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound that, when included in a lubricating oil, can enhance longevity of shudder prevention, as well as gear-shift characteristics and torque transmission capacity, all to satisfactory levels.SOLUTION: The invention provides a monocarboxylic acid ester compound represented by the specified general formula (1). [In the formula (1), Rto Reach independently represent hydrogen or a C1-30 hydrocarbyl group and can be identical or different, where at least one of Rto Ris a C8-30 hydrocarbyl group; m is an integer between 1 and 4; and n is an integer between 1 and 3.]
