Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption by improving pump efficiency of a friction regenerative fuel pump of a side channel shape.
SOLUTION: Lead-in passages 3b, 4b for leading fuel into main flow passages 3a, 4a are respectively and independently provided in the main flow passages 3a, 4a, and lead-out passages 3c, 4c are provided on the outside of an outer peripheral end of an impeller 5 by annexing the two main flow passages 3a, 4a. Therefore, a conventional communicating hole 102b provided on a cascade 5b portion of the impeller 5 can be abolished. Swirling flow is generated from a close part to end points of the lead-in passages 3b, 4b(starting points of the main flow passages 3a, 4a) into the cascade 5b, so that boosting action of discharging pressure starts to improve the pump efficiency. As a result, the power consumption of the fuel pump can be reduced.
