Abstract:
To provide a friction roller type speed reducer which can exhibit high power transmission efficiency and furthermore enables the axial length of the speed reducer itself to be shortened and therefore can be made small-sized and lightweight, and a speed reducer unit using the friction roller type speed reducer.SOLUTION: The friction roller type speed reducer comprises a sun roller 15 having a pair of sun roller elements 35, 37 provided side by side in the axial direction of an input shaft 11. Each of rolling contact faces 37a, 37a of the sun roller elements 35, 37 and rolling contact faces 19a, 19b of an intermediate roller 19 is an inclined face in which radial distance from the contact faces to a center line Ax of the input shaft 11 becomes shorter as the contact faces come closer to outside end faces 45, 47 on the axial opposite side from opposed side end faces 41, 43 of the sun roller elements opposing each other. The friction roller type speed reducer further comprises a piston chamber 89 generating axial force to separate the sun roller elements 35, 37 from each other in the axial direction and canceller chambers 63, 65 reducing the centrifugal hydraulic pressure in the piston chamber 89.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
