To provide an excellent friction roller type transmission which can realize reduction of weight and costs.
The friction roller type transmission is provided with an outer ring 20 capable of relative rotation in an eccentric state around a high speed side shaft 11, a low speed side shaft 21 concentrically coupled with the outer ring 20, two fixed guide rollers 27, 28 arranged in a range with the wider width size of an annular space 26 formed between the outer ring 20 and the high speed side shaft 11 and capable of rotating in a state of abutting on the high speed side shaft 11 and the outer ring 20, a movable roller 29 arranged in a range with the narrower width size of the annular space 26 and pressed and energized so as to be capable of displacing toward the direction of the narrower width size, and a housing 24 comprising a bottomed cylindrical housing body 24a made of synthetic resins to cover the outer ring 20, and at the same time, to support the low speed side shaft 21 freely rotatably and a lid body 24b made of aluminum or an aluminum alloy to close the opening part of the housing body 24a and to support the high speed side shaft 11 freely rotatably.
