To attain compatibility of both miniaturization of an electric motor- driven power steering device and improvement of operability of a steering wheel by realizing a structure capable of converting speed change ratio in accordance with torque to be transmitted.
Torque transmitted to an input shaft 16 from an electric motor 8 is applied to a lower steering shaft 3 through an input disk 25, output disk 28, and a loading cam device 29. The input shaft 16 is supported displaceably over a diametric direction of the output disk 28 and an idler disk 30, to be pressed to the diametric direction inward of both these disks 28, 30 by a coned disk spring 23. Elastic force of this coned disk spring 23 is balanced with thrust generated by the loading cam device 29, so as to change speed change ratio by displacing the input shaft 16 in an axial direction.
