Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction stir welding device which can realize good joining without fusion failure even when any backing strip is not used.
SOLUTION: In this friction stir welding device wherein a joint between metal plates 1, 2 is heated and stirred with a bobbin tool 40 and the metal plates 1, 2 are joined to each other in a non-fused state, the bobbin tool 40 includes a front side shoulder part 42 and a back side shoulder part 43 which are respectively heated by frictional heat in contact with both front and back sides of the metal plates 1, 2 while sandwiching both the sides therebetween. A hydraulic cylinder 61 is provided as pressing means which makes the back side shoulder part 43 movable to a rotating shaft direction and rotatably supports and presses the back side shoulder part 43 against the direction of the metal plates 1, 2.
