To provide a friction stirring and joining method that can suppress an occurrence of unjoined portion.
In a friction stirring and joining method, one of either peripheral part 66 or lid part 65 of opening part 61 of cylinder 28 is located on the advancing side AS where rotating direction r and moving direction M of the joining tool 90 are the same; the other of either peripheral part 66 or lid part 65 of opening part 61 of cylinder 28 is located on the retreating side RS where rotating direction r and moving direction M of the joining tool 90 are the opposite; and the friction stirring and joining work is performed while offsetting the center of the tip of a shaft 92 of the joining tool 90 from a boundary face X between the peripheral part 66 and the lid part 65 of the opening part 61 of the cylinder 28 to the retreating side RS within a range not more than the radius of the tip of the shaft 92.
