To provide a friction transmission belt capable of reducing noise and abnormal sounds caused by misalignment of a pulley or stick slip by reducing a coefficient of friction of a pulley engagement surface.
In this friction transmission belt 1, a lubricant 7 formed by polyethylene resin is adhered to a friction transmission surface of a compressed rubber layer 6 for engagement or contact with the pulley at an area ratio of 20% or more (particularly 20-80%) with respect to an area of the friction transmission surface. The lubricant 7 contains a granule lubricant and/or a flat lubricant. The friction transmission belt may be embedded with a lubricant near the friction transmission surface. The compressed rubber layer may contain ethylene-α-olefin elastomer. In the friction transmission belt, the lubricant may be adhered to the compressed rubber layer without interposing a binder component. The granule lubricant may be formed by low density polyethylene. The flat lubricant may be a lubricant formed by thinning the granule lubricant in a vulcanizing molding process.
