Abstract:

To make large the variable width of a pressing force which presses elements to each other in a friction type planetary power transmission mechanism.

Four pieces of planetary rollers 122 are arranged around a sun roller 16 so as to contact it and in addition, a ring 128 is arranged around the planetary rollers. The four pieces of planetary rollers 122 are supported on a carrier so that a first arrangement, in which contact points with the ring 128 form a square, and a second arrangement, in which the contact points with the ring 128 form a rectangle, can be taken. The deformation quantity of the ring 128 and a force that acts on the planetary rollers 122 of the ring 128 (pressing force) become larger in the first arrangement of the square shape than in the second arrangement of the rectangular shape. Furthermore, each planetary roller 122 includes a large diameter part 142, which contacts the outside circumferential surface of the sun roller 16, and small diameter parts 143-1, 143-2, which have smaller outer diameters than the large diameter part 142 and contact the inside circumferential surface of the ring 128.
