Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a large speed reduction ratio by transmitting the revolution of a plural number of disks making frictional engagement with an input shaft to an output shaft by means of the disks and non-rotating orbit rings making frictional engagement with projecting portions in the centers of the disks.

CONSTITUTION: A first stage speed reduction is made by the frictional engagement of the circumferential surface 4 of an input shaft 1 with the circumferential surface 3 of a disk 2. A second stage speed reduction is made by the frictional engagement of a plural number of projecting portions 5a and 5b in the centers of a plural number of the disks 2 with stationary orbit rings 6a and 6b. The press contact forces required for the frictional transmission in both of the speed reduction actions are produced with a spring 7. The revolution of the disks 2 is transmitted by way of carrier pins 10a-10c to an output shaft 11. With this constitution, speed reduction beyond conventional limits is attained with little increase in the external dimensions.
