To provide a frictional vibration reducing device which can be installed not only in a large scale building but also in a new or existing small scale building such as a detached house, which can be inexpensively installed with a simple structure, and which effectively functions against medium scale and large scale earthquakes.
This frictional vibration reducing device is composed of at least three sliding flat plates which are interposed and inserted in the state of being superposed on one another between the foundation and sill of the building or between a pile head and the foundation; the sliding flat plate in a lowermost position is fixed to the foundation or the pile head; the sliding flat plate in an uppermost position is fixed to the sill or the foundation; the sliding flat plate in an intermediate position is installed slidably on the upper and lower sliding flat plates; one side sliding surfaces of the sliding flat plates brought into surface contact with each other are formed in such a shape that a coefficient of friction is set at a predetermined value; and the other side sliding surfaces are formed in such a shape that the coefficient of friction is set greater than the predetermined value.
