To obtain a fringed knitted fabric which has hitherto been absent when a fringe that is an ornamental tuft is required for a knit product at a low cost and to provide a method for readily knitting the knit product.
This fringed knitted fabric is provided with a fringe comprising many yarn parts formed of yarns for knitting stitches at the end of a weft knitted fabric side by side as the fringed knitted fabric. Furthermore, the fringed knitted fabric is obtained by releasing loop knitting of yarns 2. in the weft direction for a prescribed stitch section D by continuous drawing off of needles in the course of knitting of a weft knit with a flat knitting machine or a circular knitting machine, etc., forming the many yarn parts arranged side by side, cutting the resultant yarn parts along a cutting-plane line C in the intermediate part of the section D and knitting the fringe at the end of the knitted fabric.
