Abstract:

PURPOSE: To surely join respective members with one another by inserting a rocker reinforcing member up to the central section of a joint combining a front pillar reinforcing member with body outer panel members even if sheet thickness is changed.
CONSTITUTION: The cross sectional shape of the lower end section 25 of a front pillar reinforcing member 24 is formed into a stepped shape, and its front end section 25A is brought into contact with the lower end section 12A of a front pillar outer 12. A first step section 25B which is recessed to the inner side by one step in the width direction, is continuously formed in the rear side, and the front end section 26A of a rocker reinforcing member 26 is inserted into an insertion section which is formed together with the lower end section 12A of the front pillar outer 12, so as to be fusion bonded. A second step section 25C is formed in the rear end section of the first step section 25B, and the front end section of the rocker reinforcing member of an open roof car where sheet thickness is thicker than the rocker reinforcing member of a closed roof car, is inserted into a second insertion section formed together with the lower end section 12A of the front pillar outer 12 so as to be fusion bonded.
