PURPOSE: To prevent the production of seizure and plate flaws in rolled materials by maintaining the speeds of the rolling mill and table constant irrespective of load conditions in the rolling mill plant cnstituted by a reversible rolling mill and front and rear tables.

CONSTITUTION: A signal corresponding to the assigned number of revolution is put in a reference voltage generator 21 to let a reference voltage ±Vf be generated. This voltage is put in a mill drive control unit 22 to run a mill motor 6 at the specified number of revolutions. Also, the same voltage is put in a table drive control unit 25 to run a table motor 5 (or 7). When a rolling material 4 bites in a mill 1 and load becomes excessive, the speed diffrence of the mill 1 and table 2 is detected with a deviation counter 27. This is converted to an analog deviation quantity ΔV by a D/A converter 29 and this quantity is applied to an analog adder-subtractor 31. Here, the reference voltage and deviation voltage are added and subtracted, and the result is sent to the table drive control unit 25, by which the tabled speed is made the same as that of the mill moter 6. Hence, no slip occurs between the rolling material 4 and the tables 2, 3 and damaging of the rolling material does not occur.
